Problem
Building a performant e-commerce storefront capable of handling high-concurrency flash sales while allowing merchants to easily apply custom color branding to their shops.
What I built
- Architected the frontend with Next.js to ensure fast SSR/SSG page loads.
- Integrated Supabase for the backend to manage user authentication, product inventory, and the complex relational data required for time-sensitive flash sales.
- Designed and implemented custom color branding configurations across the UI.

Key decisions
Next.js & Supabase Synergy
Why
Chosen Next.js and Supabase to ensure a seamless integration between a fast, SEO-friendly frontend and a robust PostgreSQL database.
Trade-off
Supabase's managed Postgres required writing complex RLS (Row Level Security) policies instead of traditional backend logic.
Technical notes
Flash Sale State Management
Configured dynamic API endpoints and utilized real-time database subscriptions to prevent inventory overselling during traffic spikes.
What I would do next
HotShop significantly strengthened my ability to model complex e-commerce databases and manage concurrent user states.
